News & Injury Updates

Players going to AFCON will be out from Gameweek 17.

Igor Thiago was left out of Brentford's Carabao Cup squad vs Newcastle. Andrews says he has a "couple of knocks".

Jérémy Doku is out for the remainder of 2025.

Dominik Szoboszlai is back in training and hoping to be fit for Spurs.

Liam Delap and Estêvão will be ready to face Aston Villa in GW18 (Maresca).

Jean-Philippe Mateta has been “playing through pain for 4-5 weeks”, and his minutes are being managed (Sam Tabuteau).

Ben White will be out for a “few games”, Arteta confirms.

🔁 Keep – Buy – Sell – Avoid

  • KEEP
    • Jurriën Timber (£6.5m) – With Ben White sidelined for at least a month, Timber walks into guaranteed starts for the best defensive unit in the league
    • David Raya (£6.0m) – He faces Everton — a side ranked: 18th for Shots on Target. 18th for Goals Scored
  • 🛒 BUY/MONITOR
    • Phil Foden (£8.8m) — Since GW13, among midfielders, Foden isn’t just leading — he’s dominating:
      1st
for Big Chances, xG, Goals, Goal Involvements, BPS, and FPL Points
2nd for xGI, xPts, Bonus, and Shots on Target
    • Antoine Semenyo (£7.6m) – MID, Bournemouth
    • 1st for Goals; 2nd for Goal Involvements, FPL Points, Shots in the Box
    • He faces Burnley next at home.
  • SELL
    • Bryan Mbeumo (£8.2m)  — Mbeumo is off to the Africa Cup of Nations from Gameweek 17 onwards, with an unknown return date.
    • Eberechi Eze (£7.7m)  - Injuries, stop-start minutes and long gaps between hauls have turned Eze into the kind of asset that always feels one Gameweek away — but never quite gets there.
  • AVOID
    • Avoid payers who are injury doubts and injury prone.
    • Don't buy players who get poor minutes in their teams and are prone to rotation. If the player you are eyeing falls into either of these 2 brackets, He is an 'AVOID'.

🎯 Low-Owned Differentials

💎 Rayan Cherki – Man City – 6.5 Midfielder – 5.7 %  Most FPL Managers have both Haaland and Foden, which means your gains are minimal if City scores. To maximize your gains, why not add a 3rd City attacker into the mix? With the departure of Marmoush for AFCON, along with Cherki’s great form (7 Assists in the last 7 gameweeks), he is a safe bet to start in the upcoming fixtures.

Adrien Truffert – Bournemouth – 4.5 Defender – 2.3 %

Bournemouth have the 3rd best chance of keeping a Clean Sheet according to the Market Odds for Gameweek 17. They play a Burnley side which is in the Bottom 3 for xG, non-penalty xG, and have scored the 3rd fewest Goals in the League (18).

Evanilson – Bournemouth – 7.0 Forward – 1.6 %

Targeting Burnley seems to be the best thing in FPL right now, and in the last 5 Gameweeks, many FPL picks have gone on to get double-digit returns against the Clarets. (Enzo in Gameweek 12, Thiago & Dango in Gameweek 13, Munoz & Guehi in Gameweek 14, Bruno Guimares in Gameweek 15, and Harry Wilson in Gameweek 16).

Matheus Nunes – Man City – 5.3 Defender – 1.7 %

Most FPL Managers would be targeting Nico O’Reilly, but Nunes has actually got more attacking returns than him. He has 1 Goal and 4 Assists to O’Reilly’s 1 Goal and 3 Assists.

Ultra Differential Pick (Under 1 % Ownership)

Kevin Schade – Brentford – 7.0 Midfielder –  0.7 %

If you look at his upcoming opponents – Wolves, there isn’t any team weaker in the Premier League. Wolves have conceded the most Goals in the League (35). They have not won a single match this season and are ranked in the Bottom 4 for all Key Defensive Metrics.

👑 GW17: Triple Captain Haaland?

Although he's not been at his very best recently, Haaland's hauls of 14 and 13 points over the last four Gameweeks have shown just why he's both the most-owned and top-scoring player in Fantasy.

If you have your triple captain chip still left, there are only 2 remaining good gameweeks to use it on the most reliable of picks: Haaland (GW17 vs West Ham) and Bruno (GW19 vs Wol).

Haaland has better data than Bruno; is the highest points scorer in the game. Haaland plays for a better team. City is more consistent than United. City are only 2 points behind Arsenal and will be looking to hammer The Hammers so as to overtake Arsenal and improve on their goal difference.

With Mbeumo and Amad off to AFCON, we don't know if United will show the same level of attacking threat. They are 2 very big losses for Amorim. Wolves also kept Arsenal quiet at the Emirates and it took Arsenal a Saka piece of magic to score the 2nd goal past the 90th minute. Wolves will be very tight at Old Trafford and there is no Amad or Mbeumo to win penalties .

⚖️ Verdict: (Triple) Captain Haaland

🃏 GW 17 Transfer Dilemmas

Q1: What should you do with Thiago?

He’s yellow-flagged with “a couple of knocks”, but Thiago has Wolves in Gameweek 17, so if he is fit, he’s got a decent chance of ending his run of three consecutive blanks. Keep him for now.

Q2: Should I pick Bowen or Ekitike?

Bowen is nailed to start and is talismanic for West Ham. They also have a nice run of fixtures after Man City (FUL, BHA, wol, NOT). Ekitike also has a good run of fixtures. He’s only played a full 90 minutes once in the Premier League this season, so be wary of his minutes.

Pick Bowen. He’s a reliable starter, he’s scored more points this season, and he’s £1.1m cheaper.

Q3: Is Woltemade under threat from Wissa’s return?

Yes. Time will tell to what extent, but the fact that Woltemade has only scored two goals in his last eight games won’t help his case.

Q4: Should you buy Palmer?

Not yet because the next 2 against Newcastle and Villa are tough fixtures against top teams. Wait and assess after these 2 games; ahead of their match against a leaky Bournemouth defence.

Q5: Other captaincy options?

Foden should be 2nd after Haaland. Then Semenyo 3rd.

Foden plays for a better team, is more consistent than Semenyo, plays for a more consistent team.
